Steps to Take for Your Health, Happiness and Wellbeing
We want to make 2022 the best year we’ve had in a while. Over the past couple of years, many of our lives have been dominated by Covid-19 and the restrictions put in place as a result of its spread across the world. We want the twelve months ahead to be more positive. Sure, we might not be able to guarantee that this is the year that life returns to “normal”. But we can make a concentrated effort to make it as good a year as possible for ourselves. Here are some suggestions that should help to get you off to a good start, with steps to take for your health, happiness, and wellbeing.

Improve Your Diet
Start by making sure you’re eating the right amount. How much you should eat in a day will depend on various individual factors, such as your age, sex and activity levels. The guide below will give you a rough idea of how many calories to eat in meals and snacks each day.
- Children aged 2 to 8 – 1000 to 1400 calories
- Girls aged 9 to 13 – 1400 to 1600 calories
- Boys aged 9 to 13 – 1600 to 2000 calories
- Active women aged 14 to 30 – 2400 calories
- Sedentary women aged 14 to 30 – 1800 to 2000 calories
- Active men aged 14 to 30 – 2800 to 3200 calories
- Sedentary men aged 14 to 30 – 2000 to 2600 calories
- Active adults over 30 – 2000 to 3000 calories
- Sedentary adults over 30 – 1600 to 2400 calories
Of course, don’t overly fixate on calories. It’s not the end of the world if you eat slightly under or over every so often. Next, make sure that what you’re putting on your plate is balanced. You should have a good mix of all the food groups in moderation. Avoid cutting out any particular groups – such as calories or healthy fats – completely. Instead, make sure your plate is balanced. You should also get plenty of fruits and vegetables.
Make Sure to Exercise
It’s recommended that the average adult gets one hundred and fifty minutes of moderate aerobic exercise a week. If you’re short on time, seventy-five minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise should do. Of course, few people actually fit this into their schedule. Why? Because they’re trying to engage with exercise they don’t really enjoy. Sure, many of us have a lot of commitments and responsibilities. But if you enjoy your exercise, you’ll look forward to it and make sure to fit it in. Here are some options to consider.
- The Gym – in exchange for a membership fee, you’ll get all the equipment you need for any workout you want to do. You’ll also be able to exercise in a safe, secure environment without facing the elements.
- A Personal Trainer – personal trainers help to create a fitness regime that will see you hit your fitness goals. It also encourages you to attend sessions if you know you have to pay for them even if you miss them.
- Swimming – if you live near a pool, or your gym has a pool, swimming isn’t just a potentially life saving skill. It can be fun and is a great form of all-round exercise that’s easy on the joints.
- Fitness Classes – fitness classes encourage you to incorporate routine into your fitness and ensure that you have a professional guiding your workout. They can be a good social form of exercise too.
- Team Sports – team sports are good for those who like competitive or social elements to their fitness routine. There are countless options, so see which you have available local to you.
Pick Up a Hobby
Hobbies aren’t just for children. All too often, adults dedicate all of their time to purely work-related, responsibility related or social commitments. Having a hobby allows you to take some time to yourself to do something you really enjoy. Often, hobbies revolve around developing a skill. They can range from baking to learning a language, pottery, creative writing, embroidery, hiking or anything else. Whatever you choose, make sure to have the right equipment on board. Depending on your hobby, this could be anything from a stand mixer to glue guns from Glue Guns Direct. Next, find the necessary means of engaging with your hobby. If you require a teacher or tutor, see whether there are classes in your local area or whether there are one-to-one tutors who provide services locally to you.
These are just a few areas you can focus on. Hopefully, one will appeal to you! Try some out and you should see some positive improvements soon!
