How To Be a Super Productive Blogger

I’ve been blogging for over 6 years now, so I’ve picked up a fair few hacks on how to be a super productive blogger along the way. I do have to be hard on myself sometimes as I can mindlessly scroll through social media when I should be writing! But these ultra-productive blogger hacks will keep you on track to build up your blog and your empire!

How To Be a Super Productive Blogger

1. Social Media

Stop mindlessly scrolling through your social media timelines. I’m terrible for this! It’s such a time suck and waste of precious time. During your workday, turn off your phone notifications and on your desktop browser. You will thank me for it!

2. Have a Plan

Plan your day. Know what you are doing when. This will make you a super productive blogger as you won’t be wasting time! I try to make my plans for the week on a Sunday, so come Monday morning I’m all ready to go and focused on what I’m doing. One tip is knowing why you are doing something. Have along term business plan in place and goals to reach.

3. Emails

I don’t do this but I should, but limit the number of times a day you check your emails. 1-3 times is enough. But me being an eager beaver and always dying to know what exciting opportunities are making their way into the inbox I’m there ready and waiting constantly!!

4. Grammarly

If you are quick at typing and your head runs away from your fingers, you could be writing gibberish! Install Grammarly on your browser and it will do the hard work for you! Bye Bye spelling mistakes and incoherent grammar!

5. Planner

Use some sort of content planner. May it be your trusty old notebook, Trello, Google Docs or a fancy editorial content planner on WordPress it will save you time. Plan your content months in advance.

6. Working Area For a Productive Blogger

Keep your desk tidy and clutter free. That’s if you have a desk. Many of us bloggers, work from the sofa, kitchen table or the local coffee shop!

7. Inbox to Zero!

At the end of everyday, make sure your inbox is 0 unread emails. So you can start the next day afresh. Also it’s good housekeeping to file your emails into the relevant folders. I have these folders:

  • To Do
  • Send Out
  • Waiting Payment
  • Finished Collabs
  • Future Blog Ideas (I collect press emails for brainstorming)
  • Blog Tours (all my book-related emails)
  • Adverts
  • Seasonal
  • Await Delivery
  • Blog Courses

8. Batch Work

I have different days of the week for similar work. As an example: Sunday evenings are planning for the week, Mondays are promotional and social media days, Tuesdays are writing days, Thursdays are photographing days, Fridays are admin days. On these days I bulk tasks. So for for photographing days I take all my blog photos for upcoming blog posts. It could be up to 20 items that day to photograph. But it’s saving time as I only need to get my photograph setup done once.

9. Use Pre-made Social Media Templates

Canva is my favourite ever creative site. There are hundreds of pre-made social media templates for all channels and all you have to do is change it to your brand colours and add in your own text. It’s a godsend! You can even now pin to Pinterest directly from Canva – ultimate super productive blogger hack! Genius! There is a free plan or you can upgrade to Canva Pro to unlock even more!

10. Repurpose

We all love to pump out new content, but have you thought about re-purposing older blog posts? The content is there it just needs updating, image tweaking and some new pins for Pinterest. Total time saver and you will have readers who have never seen this. I really need to get on top of this myself!

11. Schedule

Schedule all your social media posts. It means you don’t have to be present all the time, yet your content is getting out there on social media. Here are reasons why it’s important to schedule social media.

I use SocialBee and Missinglettr for scheduling my content on Facebook and Twitter. A while back I got a lifetime access plan through AppSumo. Others I know use Buffer or Hootsuite.
